Transfer 4, semana 4

Hello hello! Another week has passed here in the beautiful town of Aberdeen. Lots of the farmers started harvesting their grain and potatoes and sugarbeets aren't far behind. School also started and summer is drawing to a close. This has made missionary work a little more difficult but we press on! Wednesday we had District Council in Pocatello, and afterwards we were told there were free desk lamps at a tire shop in town so we went there in search of light! We didn't find desk lamps, they were floor lamps, but we did meet Rex. He was kind and funny, and even gave us money to buy lunch. We got a picture with him and I'll attach it below. Thursday we talked with a lot of members in an effort to find more people to teach. Our teaching pool is a little small right now, and we want to expand it. I got to pet a taxidermied bear (I love soft things) and hold many kittens. We had a lot of good meetings where we got a lot of information on the area. Friday we were at the church to ...

Hello! Lots of small miracles this week. That's one of the beautiful things about being a missionary, we get to see a whole bunch of small miracles everyday. And big ones too.  Wednesday and Thursday were pretty boring, basic days. Nothing to write home about (haha).  On Friday we had a big meeting as a zone, called zone council and we also had interviews with our mission president. During mine, we talked about the family from Kenya and President Herrod said that he would try to make it to the lesson we had planned for Saturday. We know they're ready to be baptized, and they know it too. They just need a little push. Saturday, we were so hoping that Jim and Dana would set a baptismal date. Hermanas Greenwood, Hyde, and I all fasted for them to make this choice. President and Sister Herrod were able to come to the lesson too. We taught them the Restoration lesson again, it always brings the Holy Ghost. We tried our darnedest to get them on date and they never really agreed to o...

Hello everyone! I feel like I don't even know hat happened this week! But I know we did a lot of good things!  Thursday we had zone conference! We talked about working with the members and fellowshipping our investigators, because missionaries change a lot more often than the members. We had Hermana Beard's famous French toast and it was delicious (though very carb-y). My mom also bought me a small harp for my birthday and it arrived today. I've spent a few minutes each day tuning it because it was very out of tune when I got it. But soon I'll be able to play it!  Friday I ended up taking a very long morning nap. I hadn't slept well the previous two nights, so ended up sleeping through my studies. I felt really bad about it but I also like to believe that God knows our limits and capabilities. He called me on a mission not to be a perfect missionary, but to me. And sometimes that means taking a nap so I can function later in the day. We still ended up finding two n...

Wow! What a week this has been! So much has changed and it's kind of amazing to see. Wednesday we had a lesson with Dana and Jim and their kids. Basically, all of them know that they're going to be baptized, it's just a matter of time. When we first started meeting with them, they had all sorts of really hard questions that we had to figure out how to answer. But now, they don't ask us hard questions, and honestly, I miss it. But we still go over and talk about all sorts of things with them. We also found out about transfers!  Hermana Greenwood and I were really hoping that we would stay together for another transfer, but that wasn't in the plans for us. I stayed in Aberdeen and got Hermana Hyde as my new companion! And Hermana Greenwood moved all the way to... American Falls. For those of you who don't know, we live in American Falls even though we work in Aberdeen. So we'll still see each other a lot. She only moved five minutes away.  Thursday was full of...

Howdy everyone! How has your week been? Mine has been great! It's been an action packed week. We had Spanish Zone Conference on Friday, and got fed Kenyan food on Saturday. Wednesday, we had District Council in Pocatello. Then we did a small exchange and got to bring Sister Sitterud with us to a lesson with Dana and Jim. Then we had to drop her off at our meet up point, a casino gas station between Aberdeen and Pocatello. All in all, we drove 200 miles that day. Thank goodness our mission doesn't track miles! Thursday, we had another lesson with Dana and Jim (we're really working hard with them, they're absolutely golden) and some elders were able to come, and they had President Packer from our mission presidency come too. It was so good! Dana and Jim have a lot of questions, and President Packer has a lot of scriptural knowledge so he was able to answer a lot of them. Friday was Spanish Zone Conference! We drove to Burley and met up with all of the other Spanish-speaki...

Hey hey hey! How was your week? This week flew by. I don't really know how it's almost the end of the transfer, but next week ends the transfer and that's absolutely crazy. So much happened this week, but nothing really too interesting. Just the same old, same old.  On Wednesday, we had a small pizza party after our District Council because we hit (surpassed actually) our goal of 70 lessons with a member participating (we had 82!) Our district leader got a pizza from Costco and each of us a drink of our choice (except for one elder who didn't send his choice in who got a Moana sippy cup of juice). It was a fun way to bond from our goals. That night, we went to a fitness class with some members and their friends. It was super intense and we felt the effects for several days after. But so much fun! The family from Africa that we are teaching has been making slow but steady progress. They think that they need to know everything before they are baptized, but that's jus...
