Transfer 1, semana 5

Helloooooooo humans! That's a reference to an attraction at Disney World, not an implication that I'm not human.  We saw some wonderful miracles this week and some really good laughs too. Just as clarification, when I say week, I usually mean from pday to pday.  So we started off strong with three temple trips in three days with new members. We also have one tonight! On Tuesday we went for ourselves and then Wednesday and Thursday we went with new members in the ward.  On Wednesday we went with George. It was really nice, except he was late! It's okay though because there were several other groups going at that same time so we just went at the end of the time slot. But next time we'll remember to remind him about it a little earlier. One of the members of the YSA branch who has gone out with us to appointments was working in the temple and he speaks Spanish so was able to help us while we were there. It was fun to see him.  We went with Anthony and his wife El...

Another week, another dollar... Or something like that. This week definitely wasn't as exciting as last week. We were able to go to the temple twice this past week, once with some new members and then again today for pday. And we are going again tomorrow and Thursday! It's going to be a full week of temple work. Saturday was Hermana Messick's birthday. We went to a member's house (remember the family where the son ate a ton of pizza then got sick? That family.) and they had burgers and hot dogs for us for lunch. And then it turns out that Hma Messick's mom schemed to buy a cake for her! Later that night, we went to Chick-fil-a as Hma Messick's birthday treat for herself. On Sunday, we had people from the Stake come and speak to us which meant that they spoke in English. Which on one hand, meant that I understood all of it, but I missed hearing the Spanish and improving my listening skills. Oh well. We didn't have as many of our friends come to church as we ...

Holy Cow! We're already halfway through the transfer! So much happened this week that I couldn't possibly tell you guys everything without this email being like 10 paragraphs. So we'll hit the highlights. We had two baptisms this week, as well as several times when we were in the right place at the right time. The first baptism was on Monday with our friend Anthony. I talked a little bit about that in my last email. When we had a new member lesson with him, he told us that he felt different and we told him that it's the companionship of the Holy Ghost. The second baptism was for Nani. She was originally supposed to be baptized today (Tuesday April 11) but due to scheduling conflicts, we had to bump it up. She was baptized on Saturday and was so excited! She and her brother made spam musubi as a snack for after and, while they weren't made to my preference, I ate like five of them. Both Anthony and Nani have seen such big changes in their lives and it's wonderf...

Hello lovely people! Idaho is really putting this Alabama girl through the wringer. Even though it's April, we woke up yesterday morning to a light dusting of snow. It melted by midday but the wind was brutal. I was trying to change the windshield wipers on our car last night and couldn't do it because my hands were too cold. It snowed yesterday and today in Pocatello, 20 inches! Thankfully I'm in Twin Falls. I miss the warm weather of Mexico.  This week was a strange one, lots of meetings and not a lot of actual lessons. I had my first zone conference on Thursday and, while helpful, was pretty boring. On Friday, a young boy from the Spanish Ward was baptized along with two other kids from another ward. It was so wonderful to see them and how excited they were. After that we went with the family to an all-you-can-eat pizza buffet and one of the Elders and one of the teenage boys from the family had a pizza eating contest. The teenager won with 22 slices, but at a high price...
