Transfer 5, semana 2
Hello!
It's started getting chilly in the mornings here, which throws a wrench in our daily morning walks, so we've been stretching and doing yoga type things for our exercise. Winter will be upon us soon and I hope that I haven't outgrown the coat I have! (as some of my past companions have said: I've gained more than just a testimony on my mission).
Wednesday was a fairly normal day, well, as normal as a missionary day can be. We had District Council and weekly planning, then got to work. We didn't have anyone signed up to feed us dinner, and decided to use that time to go out to the far side of our area and meet with one of our investigators out there. But it's a good thing we did, because right as we get there, we get a text from a member who lives just down the road asking us what time we'd be over for dinner! Apparently someone had signed up but no one ever told us who signed up for what day!! So we had a good lesson and a yummy dinner.
Thursday we had Zone Conference. Because we have a "greenie" we had to be there at 11 am and it went all the way until 7:30 pm! There were members there towards the end of the conference and it was nice to include them in the things we discussed. We talked a lot about the mission standards and how to better our teaching. At the end, we talked a lot about how we can share the Gospel with our friends.
Friday we were driving out to one of the towns in our area, and there was another semi truck that had turned over on the road! Luckily this time it wasn't in the direction we were going, but due to construction that side of the road was already down to one lane so they had to shut off the interstate completely and everyone had to use the Frontage roads. It was pretty messy.
Saturday, some of the elders in our zone were having a baptism so we invited some of our friends to come after we had a lesson with them. They were wishy-washy on going but eventually we got them there, but they had dragged behind so much that we missed the whole thing except for the closing song and prayer. Awkward. But we got donuts and chocolate milk out of it so I can't complain too much.
Sunday was the usual. We had lots of meetings in the morning so spent a lot of time driving back and forth. Then we had a linger longer after our Spanish ward and we had tamales! They weren't spicy, which I was grateful for because in the past I've had to pawn off tamales to my friends and family when they've been too spicy for me. Ended the night by driving to the edge of our area to do exchanges with some other Hermanas.
Monday, Hermana Beard was in another area and it was just Hermana Cox and me. We tried to talk with a lot of people, but for the most part, they either weren't home or they didn't want to talk to us. It's amazing how many people pretend to not be home when we knock. And how many are really bad at it. But at the end of the night we talked to some people who had been taught in the past who might be interested in learning more, and some members who basically wouldn't let us leave until we were already late to get Hermana Beard back.
Thank you to everyone who has prayed for me or sent good vibes my way. My mental health goes up and down, some days are better than others but I'm lucky to have companions (past and present) who are very supportive. I've been getting more sleep too, so that has helped.
Love you all and talk to you later!
