Transfer 3, semana 3
Week three already?! And somehow it's July??
One thing that the mission has taught me, is the kind of husband I want to have and the kind of mother I want to be in the future. Our dinner on Wednesday was with a family that had two teenagers and five young children under the age of 8. Normally this would be fine, but the house was not in the best condition and the children were wild and would not listen to their mom. And then when we sat down to eat, the kids didn't wash their hands but still grabbed food for us (with their hands, no utensils) and gave it to us to eat. And two of the kids had sore throats. I'm grateful for people's willingness to serve and feed the missionaries, but I am also grateful to be in good health. At least it was a memorable dinner.
My first time going to the Pocatello Temple was on Thursday! It's beautiful there! We went with some youth from one of our wards and it was so fun. We went to dinner at Freddy's after and I got a very yummy worms and dirt frozen custard (don't ask me how it's different from ice cream). To end off the night, we got to see some adorable kittens and hold them for a while. Unfortunately, that night after we left, two of the kittens had a very sad ending. At least they had a good last day.
Friday, we had a really good lesson with the family from Africa, we'll call the parents Dana and Jim. They have such interesting questions, and lessons with them are super long, but very productive. That night, one of the rather wealthy potato farmers was having a party for the Fourth of July and we got to go for a little bit. It seemed like so much fun! And I wish that I hadn't had to be a missionary while we were there because they had some waterslides that looked like a blast. And Saturday, the owner of the gas station in Aberdeen gave us milkshakes for free.
I know that my last few emails have really shown my hard times, but it's wonderful for me to remember the good things too, it's just that the bad things tend to be the more interesting ones! I've seen a lot of small miracles in the past few weeks, Dana and Jim being one of them. In the Book of Mormon, it talks about there being a need for opposition in all things, and I know that even though these things are hard for me right now, that I will have many good things come eventually.
I love you all! Talk to you next week!
