Transfer 2, semana 2
Have you ever wondered why some eggs are white, some brown, and some other random colors? No? Me neither.
Anywho, this week was a little slower than past weeks. Hermana Messick was feeling a little sick (just a cold), so we took the mornings slow so she could rest. We still got out in the evenings though!
On Thursday, we had Zone Conference. This one was a little different in that some non-missionary church members were also invited. It was fun to get to see the members and have them exposed to the righteous chaos that is Zone Conference (what else do you expect when there's 50 missionaries in one place??) We also got a new car! It's a 2023 Chevrolet Equinox and it had 170 miles on it when we got it. And Twin Falls is about 100 miles away from Pocatello. I still have no idea how to use a backup camera. Hermana Messick doesn't like the new car, she prefers the Rogues over the Equinoxes, but I don't mind the change.
Thursday night, Sister Jacobs found out that Hermana Messick had been feeling sick all week and ordered her to sleep in on Friday. She also brought her some medicine, which was so kind of her! There is nothing I could ever do to repay Sister Jacobs for all that she does for us. Friday, she bought us lunch at Chick-fil-A (Hermana Messick loves Chick-fil-A and there's only one in our mission boundaries and it's here in Twin). We started talking about the picture that I gave them two weeks ago that I photoshopped, and then started planning a trip to Disneyland for once all five of us missionaries are home (still 15 months away for me!) and of course, I need very little prompting to talk about Disney, so I was all for it.
On Saturday, we contacted or taught everyone that we are teaching! It was awesome! We invited a TON of people to church. Unfortunately none of them came. Hermana Messick wore herself out though, and she had to spend a lot of Sunday resting.
Mother's Day was a great day! I got to talk with my family, most notably to Elder Garnica (my little bother)! We can call home on pday, but Elder Garnica has his on a different day than I do, so we can't call each other. It was so fun to talk to him, especially now that we can talk in a secret code language! (Spanish) We spent the evening trying to contact people and not bother them too much on this holiday. We were able to stop by Daisy's house and talk with her for a bit. She's going through some family troubles, and really needed some support.
Yesterday - Monday - as we left the house, Hermana Messick asked if we had everything, to which I replied, "Yes." But then we realized that was false because we both thought that the other had the keys! They were locked in the house. Again. So we managed to get Hermana Messick in through the window, only to discover that the keys were in my bag the whole time. I felt so bad for making her go through the window. Oh well, at least we have a funny story (and video!) to tell.
My spiritual thought this week is about Faith. One of the things we as missionaries talk about a lot is faith. Obviously, that's the whole reason we do what we do, to build faith in Jesus Christ in the people that we talk to. We often ask people what they think faith means. In the Book of Mormon, faith is described as, "Faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true." To me, faith is hoping that God and Jesus Christ will listen to my prayers and help me when I need guidance or direction in my life. So I ask, what does faith mean to you?
Sorry that this week's email isn't as exciting as others have been. Maybe this next week will be better!
Lots of love as always,
Hermana Soh
| I saw Sister Burch! She was a missionary in Auburn when I decided to go on a mission and she lives here in Twin Falls. It was a happy coincidence to see her on Thursday. |
