Transfer 1, semana 4
Another week, another dollar... Or something like that.
This week definitely wasn't as exciting as last week. We were able to go to the temple twice this past week, once with some new members and then again today for pday. And we are going again tomorrow and Thursday! It's going to be a full week of temple work.
Saturday was Hermana Messick's birthday. We went to a member's house (remember the family where the son ate a ton of pizza then got sick? That family.) and they had burgers and hot dogs for us for lunch. And then it turns out that Hma Messick's mom schemed to buy a cake for her! Later that night, we went to Chick-fil-a as Hma Messick's birthday treat for herself.
On Sunday, we had people from the Stake come and speak to us which meant that they spoke in English. Which on one hand, meant that I understood all of it, but I missed hearing the Spanish and improving my listening skills. Oh well. We didn't have as many of our friends come to church as we had hoped, but the ones who came seem very promising. Lacey unfortunately couldn't come, her husband has some reservations about her getting baptized, and she doesn't want to do anything against his wishes. Which we totally understand, families are important and we should always support our families. We hope that soon her husband will want to meet with the missionaries, but it's all God's timing, not ours.
Speaking of God's timing, we met with David again this week. In our lesson, we talked about the pros and cons of baptism (spoiler alert: there aren't any cons). And it finally clicked in his mind that his baptism as a baby in another church is different than baptism in our church. He still hasn't committed to baptism, but maybe now with this realization he will.
My spiritual thought for this week is from The Book of Mormon in Ether 12:27. This has recently become a favorite scripture of one of my companions. "And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them." Humility is so important! When we rely on God, we can do so much more than if we just rely on ourselves.
I love you all! Thanks for reading.
