CCM Semanas dos y tres

¡Hola!

Well, I made it to the CCM! I arrived on Tuesday of last week and didn't get a P-day last week. Sorry if my typing is bad, the laptop I'm on is a Spanish keyboard and things are in the wrong place. Immigration into Mexico wasn't too bad. The worst part of it was that from the airport to the CCM, I was put on to a bus with other missionaries and I was the only one who spoke English! Talk about language learning by immersion.

I was one of the first of my district to arrive to the CCM, which meant I could greet all the others as they arrived. Hermana Thomas´s flight came in super late so I was getting ready for bed by the time she arrived. And to our surprise, she had had an allergic reaction to a brownie on the plane and had to use two epipens! We had to go to the infirmary and get her checked out. We were up past lights out and didn't get to bed until about midnight, and then had to wake up every two hours to check on her. But she was okay and that is what's important.

Meeting my district and teachers in person was great, we're had lots of laughs and have developed many inside jokes. This week is our last week of speaking in English and then all of our lessons will be in Spanish. I' m not entirely confident in my Spanish skills, but I have to remind myself that four weeks ago I didn´t speak any Spanish and now I can get by with Spanglish. Please pray for my Spanish skills. We taught our first lesson in Spanish to real people yesterday, and I learned that I need to study more vocabulary because I mostly was only able to say: "faith is very important." Oops. Luckily the people we were teaching were already members and understood that we are still learning the language.

Some of the meals we've had here

The CCM is beautiful, Mexico City is beautiful. I forget that we are in the middle of a massive city sometimes, until I hear cars honking and motorcycles zipping by. We eat all of our meals in the Comodore/cafeteria. Some of them are good, some are not. We haven't ventured outside of the CCM except to go to the temple and when we came from the airport. The drivers here are so much different than in the States and I´m grateful that I don't have to drive and that we have a bus.

My thought for this week is to love others. It's easy to let small things divide us, but we need to love our neighbors. After all, life is hard and we´re all going through it together.

I adore you all. Have a good week!
Hermana Soh
